Formal board candidate introductions are just one part of the program. Throughout the year, board candidate members and company owner members meet for development and networking at workshops and conferences. These focus on the core skills of hands-on board work and leadership.
The goals of member companies vary. They may choose the goal of creating organic growth. They might choose to create growth through mergers and acquisitions. The goal may be to set the company up for the most profitable exit possible.
Over the five years of the full program, short and long term needs are provided for over time. Mastery of basic or critical competencies are achieved first, and a groundwork is laid for the focus to evolve naturally as the company strengthens and matures.
Five year Program
Year One: Optimise business structure, consolidate finances, developing market approach and sales.
Year Two: Strategic collaboration, building a knowledge-sharing professional community, and linking with suitable companies to share services and otherwise unused production capacity.
Year Three: Market development strategy
Year Four: Development and preparation towards possible exit.
